This was an incredible project with many aspects requiring “building up” and a “full facelift” all while maintaining the building’s traditional appearance.
At PRB Systems, we have a wide range of Heritage materials and were able to provide a full technical specification for this project.
Because the previous render system was failing, an overcoat solution wasn’t an option. With the existing render system removal being specified, this then required a specialist solution, enabling a build-up and levelling Lime Render application comprising of the PRB SE Allege – a lightweight, fibred base coat, designed as both a dubbing out and base coat, which is particularly suitable for old buildings, as it can be applied in thick layers with no shrinkage and is ideal for deep voids.
In areas, the build-up was greater than 60mm – showing the versatility and high-quality technical properties of SE Allege and the PRB Range.
What PRB offered on this project:
Our Technical team visited the project, alongside the contractors and home-owners, to discuss the possible solutions available from PRB. This was an important part as we needed to preserve the character and breathable properties required for this building – whilst respecting the original structure and build design.
After the site visits and system offerings from PRB, a full Specification was provided to both the Contractor and Home-owner, giving a full system breakdown and installation process.
Colour choice; our range of Lime Renders are available in over 100 shades, which allowed the customer to make the right choice for the location and their property.
On-site support and regular visits were made to ensure the system installation was correctly followed, especially as more alterations or amendments to the specification may have needed after the removal of the failed render was complete. Project completion, guarantee sign off and customer satisfaction – the PRB goal.

- PRB SE Allege – Dubbing out basecoat.
- PRB Orange Mesh – a specialist reinforcing mesh embedded within the basecoats
- PRB Belle Epoque Sous Enduit – A traditional lime basecoat render offering exceptional breathability.
- PRB Belle Epoque Finition – A decorative, pre-coloured and exceptionably breathable topcoat finish.
