Making a difference is important to us as a company, and to our employees. The world as we know it is changing every day, that is why we are taking #GreenAction!

What is a climate positive workforce?

In terms of the environmental damage, we are doing as a species, a climate positive workforce understands and recognises the risks we face. It’s important to recognise the risk, but that’s only half the battle. An organisation committed to reducing its carbon footprint wherever possible is considered climate positive.

The question is, why does it matter? As a result, we must all start making positive changes in every aspect of our professional and personal lives as soon as possible to begin to mitigate its impact. PRB Systems provides employees with the support they need to make changes in the workplace.

Working with Ecologi to make a difference

Every month, we are offsetting as a workforce. How are we doing this? Each month we offset 6.75 tonne of carbon reduction, which is the equivalent to 5 long haul flights or 16,747 miles driven in a car. This is an unbelievable figure! And that’s not all, so far, we have planted 190 trees globally and will continue to do this every month. We look forward to supporting reforesting with landowners projects in the UK, it is important to us, to support projects close to home.

Where have our trees been planted this month?  

• Mangrove planting in Madagascar
• Forest restoration in Kenya
• Restoration projects in Mozambique
• Planting forest gardens in Uganda
• Planting trees and supporting water security in Kenyan forests                    
• Saving endemic Moroccan fruit tree species

Ecologi statement on how much carbon these trees absorb;

Reforestation is widely understood as a major natural climate solution. From an ecological point of view we’re only just grasping the cost of what life is like without trees.

With our mangrove trees they capture up to four times as much carbon per acre than tropical rainforests. Three quarters of tropical fish rely on their root systems for nurseries and shelter.

We have already supported projects in Egypt and the Amazon, which is a very positive start.

Egypt Project | SOLUTION TYPE – RENEWABLE ENERGY

This project is avoiding 83, 683 tonnes of CO2e emissions each year.

Generating 158, 881 MWh of clean electricity every year. PRB Systems impact (tCO2 reduced): 6.1

The Amazon Project | SOLUTION TYPE – FORESTRY

Preventing emissions by protecting old growth rainforest. PRB Systems impact (tCO2 reduced): 0.6

Each and every tree planted, and every project supported is tactically chosen by Ecologi. We support their choices, contributing to essential functions such as water security.

You can check our progress at any time and see how PRB Systems are having a positive impact on the environment. Check it out, we’ve already received our first badge for planting 100 trees!

What else are we doing?

As a business, it’s essential that we take Green Action wherever possible! We are currently in the process to becoming a Carbon Neutral Certified Business, offsetting carbon emissions, in addition to avoidance and reduction, is an important step in climate action. To add to this, we are making everyday changes, such as reducing unnecessary travel and transitioning to an all-electric fleet.

All our employees are climate positive, offsetting their entire carbon footprint to include emissions from their home, personal travel, hobbies and more.              

We are also excited to announce that we are not only making the difference as a workforce and business, but we will also be introducing a Responsible and Sustainable range of products to the UK market very soon.
