Monocouche Render Costa Coffee, Staffordshire
PRB SUPERBRUT is a OC2 semi-lightweight Monocouche Render, available in over 100 different shades. SUPERBRUT is designed for the use on new blockwork walls of 7N in strength.
The Challenge
Spraytech who are members of our Pro Contractor network, approached PRB to provide a specification for the application of a monocouche render system for newly laid block walls. The block type was confirmed prior to the agreed specification to ensure the product selection was correct.
With the Costa Coffee brand colours being burgundy together with a neutral white, we proposed PRB Blanc De La Cote as the recommended colour with its natural white shade that works extremely well with their brand colours and also compliments the chosen brickwork exceptionally well. Not only were small samples provided from our colour chart, we also, as standard supply a 30cm round, finished sample to show exactly the colour and texture of the product.
PRB Renders on specified projects, are awarded a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty. This is possible as the project has a fully detailed specification to ensure that all elements of the installation are in line with how the products are designed to perform, alongside our manufacturer’s warranty. We also cover each project with a 10 year insurance backed guarantee as standard.
The Solution
The SUPERBRUT Render is applied to a thickness of 15mm overall, this is made up of a first pass (or coat) at 5-6mm with our AVE100 Reinforcing Mesh applied to all areas with a structural opening. These are classed as stress points which we need to reinforce and take some pressure off the render, then there is a second coat/pass of SUPERBRUT applied over the top, wet on wet and before the first coat has dried to a thickness of 10-12mm.
This will make the render 16-18mm ready for scraping at the optimum time of readiness and scraping the render back to 15-16mm finish as per British Standards.
PRB SUPERBRUT is widely available through the UK and all stockists are available through our website. There are 16 standard colours available in the UK with a further 100+ possible options throughout the SUPERBRUT range.
As an optional extra to enhance the render system we have a fully breathable coating system called Hydrofuge that enhances the longevity of the render against staining and algae growth.
